Over the last couple of weeks, we have seen the attacks against the Tea Party movement shift from allegations of racism,to extremism. I guess the whole unfounded racism front was not getting enough traction, so a change in tactics was in order. In typical Liberal fashion, when you can’t win on the basis of your argument, then fall back to your trump card, name calling. So what better word than extremism to associate the Tea Parties with hood wearing vigilante bigots, bomb throwers genocidal maniacs, and underwear bombers. Merriam-Webster defines the word as follows:
1: the quality or state of being extreme
2: advocacy of extreme measures or views : radicalism
— ex·trem·ist noun or adjective
If it is extreme to support the United States Constitution. and the Bill of Rights, then I am guilty of extremism. If it is extremist to defend my right to practice my religion in a matter of my own choosing, then guilty as charged. If it is extreme to support my right to free speech, or the right to assemble, I must then certainly be guilty of extremism. If I believe the 2nd amendment assures me of my right to bear arms, then I am surely a radical. If it is extreme to expect due process, protection from double jeopardy and self-incrimination and a trial by jury with a speedy public trial and the right to counsel without excessive bail and cruel and unusual punishment then an extremist I am. If I believe the the Representatives that I vote for and send to Washington should represent me and the best interest of my district or municipality and to the will of the people, then I am an extremist. If I am committed to do my dead level best to fight against the tyranny of socialist tyrants in order to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, then color me extremist.
