Pot meet Kettle…

In Ron Paul’s latest round of political adverts, he attempts to paint the new front runner, Newt Gingrich, as a “flip-flopper”. OK, sure, I’ll concede Newt has had his share of “changes of opinion”, but who hasn’t.

Coming from Ron Paul, I find this particularly offensive.  This from the man who requests the earmarks, votes against them, and meanwhile his fellow Reps. in the House pass his earmarks. I’ll take someone who can learn from their mistakes over someone who is disingenuous any day of the week. If we weren’t in polite company I’d call him a liar.

Meanwile, during the interview on the Laura Ingraham show today. Ron Paul stated he believes Newt is not a conservative. This coming from a Libertarian that runs on a Republican ticket because his constituents can’t even spell libertarian, much less knows what it means. We do give credit where credit is due, and we do applaud Mr. Paul for his relentlessness on keeping fiscal policy on the front burner, but there are many other things we disagree with him about.

On Defense and National Security:
Paul’s record on defense is, he does not believe in defense spending. He has voted no to every defense appropriation bill since he has been in office.

Voted NO on making the PATRIOT Act permanent. (Dec 2005)

On Crime:
Opposes death penalty at state and federal level. (Jan 2008)

Voted NO on constitutional amendment prohibiting flag desecration. (Jun 2003)
Voted NO on establishing nationwide AMBER alert system for missing kids. (Apr 2003)

On Energy:
Ron Paul has been pretty solid on energy policy, and supportive of domestic production of energy. To his credit:

Voted YES on scheduling permitting for new oil refinieries. (Jun 2006)
Voted NO on keeping moratorium on drilling for oil offshore. (Jun 2006)
Voted NO on prohibiting oil drilling & development in ANWR. (Aug 2001)

On Education:
Eduation is one of the few areas where I have no complaints with Ron Paul. He supports students right to prayer, home schooling, abstinence, creationism and faith based schools. He did, however:

Vote NO to on allowing vouchers in DC schools. (Aug 1998)
Vote NO on requiring states to test students. (May 2001)

and contradictory:

Tax-credited programs for Christian schooling. (Sep 2007)
Encourage homeschooling & private school via tax writeoff. (Dec 2007)

His Pro-Life Record:
The bellwether of the Pro-Life movement is the National Right to Life Committee whose goal is to restore legal protection to innocent human life and related matters of medical ethics which relate to the right to life issues of euthanasia and infanticide. Ron Paul is rated 56% by the National Right to Life Committee, a score that indicates he has a mixed record on abortion.

Voted NO on restricting interstate transport of minors to get abortions. (Apr 2005)
Voted NO on federal crime to harm fetus while committing other crimes. (Apr 2001)
Voted NO on barring transporting minors to get an abortion. (Jun 1999)

On Marriage:
On the Defense of Mariage Act, and constitutional amendment Ron Paul stated “If you believe in federalism, it’s better that we allow these things to be left to the state. My personal belief is that marriage is a religious ceremony. And it should be dealt with religiously. The [government] really shouldn’t be involved. The government got involved mostly for health reasons 100 years or so ago. But this should be a religious matter. All voluntary associations, whether they’re economic or social, should be protected by the law. But to amend the Constitution is totally unnecessary to define something that’s already in the dictionary. We do know what marriage is about. We don’t need a new definition or argue over a definition and have an Amendment. To me, it just seems so unnecessary to do that. There’s no need for the federal government to be involved in this.” – 2007 GOP primary debate in Orlando, Florida Oct 21, 2007

Ron Paul voted NO on Constitutionally defining marriage as one-man-one-woman. (Jul 2006)

On Drugs:
Pon Paul’s stance on drugs should come as no surprise to anyone with knowledge about the Libertarian Party. Decriminalizing drugs is one of their main tenents. When asked “all drugs should be decriminalized. Drugs should be distributed by any adult to other adults. There should be no controls on production, supply or purchase for adults”?

“Yeah, It’s sort of like alcohol. Alcohol’s a deadly drug, kills more people than anything else. And today the absurdity on this war on drugs has just been horrible. Now the federal government takes over and overrules states where state laws permit medicinal marijuana for people dying of cancer. The federal government goes in and arrests these people, put them in prison with mandatory sentences. This war on drugs is totally out of control. If you want to regulate cigarettes and alcohol and drugs, it should be at the state level. That’s where I stand on it. The federal government has no prerogatives on this.” – Meet the Press: 2007 “Meet the Candidates” series Dec 23, 2007

Ron Paul has been rated A by VOTE-HEMP since December of 2003. He has sponsored numerous bills trying to legalize industrial hemp. He truly believes that the “War on Drugs” has abused Bill of Rights. In July of 2001, Ron Paul sponsored a Bill to legalize medical marijuana. Paul. at one time, was against federaly funded needle exchange programs until January of 2009 when he signed onto the Community AIDS and Hepatitis Prevention Act to distribute sterile syringes to reduce AIDS and hepatitis. (Jan 2009)

Voted NO on subjecting federal employees to random drug tests. (Sep 1998)
Sponsored bill letting states legalize industrial hemp. (Apr 2009)

OWS: I See [brain]Dead People…

Following the success of the “Twilight “ movies, the next hot genre of course would be Zombies. And indeed it’s true, “The Walking Dead “ is in it’s second season. And so too is the legacy media enthralled with the antics of the brain dead Occupy Wall Street zombies.

Today’s revelation “We going to burn New York City to the [expletive] ground on the 17th, ain’t no more talking, they got guns, we got bottles, they got bricks we got rocks, let’s see what they got. In a few days they’re going to see what a Molotov cocktail can do to Macy’s” prompted quick action by the New York Police Department and an arrest. The second arrest of protester Tinsley in a month. It seems he was arrested just weeks ago for assaulting a Police Officer.

Today’s ruckus stems from OWS’s eviction from Zuccotti Park. But they’ll be back tomorrow to “put an end to Wall Street’s reign of terror”. Bill Dobbs, one of the OWS organizers, told the New York media “Tomorrow is going to be a day of action around the city,” Dobbs said. “I’m looking forward to going after wall street and also galvanizing public support and awareness of what we’re about.” So, after two months, are they actually going to articulate something. I can’t wait… Let’s see, maybe they will ask for hemp filled hacky sacks. So when they are tired of playing with them, they can just smoke them.

But, I really find the phrase “put an end to Wall Street’s reign of terror” very humorous. When I think of  “a reign of terror” a different picture comes to mind. I see mafia bosses, teamsters, and union thugs, not Bob Poindexter, the Wall Street corporate bean counter. Although, you could get a nasty stab wound from a sharpened pencil, or protractor. The real “reign of terror” is the constant assault on our personal liberties brought on by an ever increasing Federal Government. The “reign of terror” is the border violence that the current Administration turns a blind eye to. The “reign of terror” is the systematic attacks against Christians and Churches in the middle East in the wake of the Arab spring. The “reign of terror” is not your inability to scrape together the required funds to acquire the next iteration of “Gears of War” or “Modern Warfare”.

The most obvious question is, why are we having to watch this in the first place? Who cares about a rowdy ignorant unwashed collection of malcontents. Rapes have become so prevalent in the OWS camps, that one encampment actually created a tent just for women, to guard against rape. Add drugs, theft, sex (either in pairs, or just by yourself) and poor sanitation habits to the mix, and you have the makings of a serious public health issue. And I’m not just talking about things that can be cured by a silver bullet. For those of you from Lake Jackson, I’m not talking about a Coors Light, penicillin is often called a silver bullet. They claim that Wall Street has stolen their wealth and opportunities, meanwhile they steal from each other, rape each other, and assault each other. They have no regard for the rule of law, because they feel they are above it. The way the OWS protesters treat each other detracts from any message, if they had one, that they are trying to bring attention to.

And by the way, when I see a Che Guevara t-shirt, I’m already automatically tuned out, you’ve already lost me….

… so bring on the revolution, a conservative Republican revolution in 2012!

Shooting yourself in the foot…

Ron Paul surrogate, Debra Medina, shot her political campaign in the foot today during an interview on the Glenn Beck Program. When asked if she was a 9/11 Truther, she refused to answer the question, and in defense of her non-answer she revealed her true answer in the affirmative. For those of you in Lake Jackson, a 9/11 Truther believes that the U.S. Government played a hand in bringing down the twin towers of the World Trade Center on 9/11.

“I don’t have all of the evidence there, Glenn, so I don’t, I’m not in a place, I have not been out publicly questioning that. I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard. There are some very good arguments, and I think the American people have not seen all of the evidence there so I have not taken a position on that.”

Local talk radio was bombarded by the ‘usual suspects’, i.e. Rontard Seminar callers, in an attempt to prop up their ‘Trojan Horse’ candidate. The main complaints throughout the day were “Glenn’s question was unfair”, “it was a trick question”, and “it was a cheap smear campaign”. It just goes to show how Rontards are willing to follow their candidate like lemmings, right over the cliff.

The truth of the mater is this: if you are running for any office, any question is fair game. It’s not like Glenn asked her to do long division in her head. The question, “are you a 9/11 Truther” cuts to the chase and illuminates character of the candidate. And truly, if you think the Bush Administration had the where-with-all to pull something off like the World Trade Center, then you are a bigger idiot than he was, and you should be fitted for one of those white coats with really long sleeves and leather straps with heavy duty buckles.

Medina was given several opportunities to state her position on the matter on talk radio programs across the dial this afternoon. Paul Bettencourt filling in for Dan Patrick today on 700 KSEV gave the Medina campaign several offers to come on the show to set the record straight. Instead she decided to issue a ‘press release’:

“I have never been involved with the 9/11 truth movement, and there is no doubt in my mind that Muslim terrorists flew planes into those buildings on 9/11, … I have not seen any evidence nor have I ever believed that our government was involved or directed those individuals in any way.”

While I am certainly no fan of KBH, I like her response better:

“I know exactly who was responsible for the horrific attacks on September 11th — Al Qaeda terrorists who declared war on America, To suggest otherwise is an affront to the men and women who are sacrificing their lives to root out the terrorists in Afghanistan and around globe.”

I thought “ the American people have not seen all of the evidence” Ms. Medina? So how can it be that “I have not seen any evidence nor have I ever believed that our government was involved” when you state “ the American people have not seen all of the evidence”. hmmm

Medina was poised to knock Kay Bailey out of the number two spot in the Republican Primary, but after a gaffe like that she’s only likely to get about 10% of the vote.

It’s good to see Pat is still on his game, from thousands of miles away, he can still sniff out a Rontard…

Texas Governor’s Race Heats up…

TexasGovernorsMansionAs the next resident of this mansion is currently up for grabs, the debate heats up for the two front runners. Current ads pitch Perry as the land grabbing NAFTA highway baron, and Hutchinson as the big spending Washington politician. Never the less, while both claims are relatively true, it is going to provide for an interesting election season. So “Pot” meet “Kettle”. For those of you in Lake Jackson, this is a reference to the old saying the “Pot calling the Kettle black”.

Note: It’s been a long time since we picked on the folks from Lake Jackson, so I thought I would remind our readers that we pick on Lake Jackson because they keep sending Ron Paul back to Congress.
